The 2014 FIFA World Cup  will be the 20th FIFA World Cup, thequadrennial international football world championship. Thetournament will be held in Brazil, which won the right to host theevent on 30 October 2007, as the only country to enter a bid.Brazil will become the fifth nation to host the FIFA World Cuptwice, after Mexico, Italy, France, and Germany. This will be thesecond time Brazil has hosted the competition after the 1950 FIFA World Cup. It will also be the first World Cup to be held in SouthAmerica since the 1978 FIFA World Cup, which was held inArgentina. The Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro may possiblybecome the second stadium after the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City to host two Football World Cup finals. Brazil will become thefirst nation to break the well-established chain of allowing aEuropean nation to host the World Cup Finals every eight years —with South Africa scheduled to host the Finals in 2010, there willbe at least a twelve-year interlude between Finals hosted byEuropean nations.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be the 20th FIFA World Cup, an international football tournament that is scheduled to take place in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014.^[2] It will be the second time that Brazil has hosted the competition, the previous being in 1950. Brazil will become the fifth country to have hosted the World Cup twice, after Mexico, Italy, France and Germany.
Thirty-two countries' teams will take part, playing in 12 cities throughout Brazil. It is scheduled to be the first World Cup to be held in South America since the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, the first time two consecutive World Cups are staged outside Europe, and the first time two consecutive World Cups are staged in the Southern Hemisphere, since the 2010 World Cup was held in South Africa. It will also be the first World Cup to use goal-line technology.^[3] Spain is the defending champion.

The sale of tickets for the World Cup started on 20 August 2013. An estimated 3.3 million tickets will be available and the majority will be sold through FIFA's website.

La fiesta deportiva más grande del mundo está a 365 días exactos de iniciarse, pues el 12 de junio del próximo año comenzará la Copa Mundial de Fútbol de la FIFA Brasil 2014.

Ya hay clasificados a esta cita mundialista. Evidentemente Brasil por ser local estará en el Mundial. A su vez, el único clasificado por ahora es Japón, líder en las Clasificatorias asiáticas.

Por su parte, en distintos continentes ya hay varios países que están muy cerca de inscribir su nombre en esta cita. Por ejemplo Corea del Sur en Asia y Argentina en Sudamérica están con un pie y medio en el Mundial.

Mientras tanto, los que son líderes en sus respectivos grupos en la Clasificatoria en Europa, están también casi en Brasil 2014.

Bélgica, Italia, Alemania, Holanda, Suiza, Portugal, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro y España son los líderes en los 9 grupos de Europa, y por ahora, Inglaterra y Francia, se estarían complicando más de la cuenta para llegar al país carioca.

Todos en nuestro país quieren que la selección peruana esté también en Brasil. Sin embargo, estando en estos momentos en el sétimo puesto, la tarea se hace complicada. Quedan cuatro fechas para definir el futuro.
