REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, Amnesty International today urged the government of Israel to release Palestinian prisoners, Hanaa al-Shalabi. These women went on hunger strike for over a month and are now at risk of dying. "She could have died in custody after a 37 day hunger strike," the statement issued by Amnesty, (23/03).
Shalabi on a hunger strike since penangkapanya on 16 February. He was arrested in the West Bank and ordered to be detained without trial for six months.
This woman is one of a thousand Palestinian prisoners were released in October 2011. Amnesty said that Shalabi is affiliated with the Islamic Jihad movement, but was never accused of committing a crime. Earlier this week he was transferred to Meir Hospital in Israel.
"Hanaa al-Shalabi was transferred to the hospital tonight Meir Israel because of his health deteriorating," said Issa Qaraqaa minister.
This statement also confirmed that an independent doctor said that these women experience muscle weakness, weight loss of up to 14 pounds, and a decrease in blood sodium levels.
Spokesman at the prison Israel, Sivan Weizman said Shalabi will be returned in jail after the consultation. Shalabi also reported that he suffered a persistent suppression of the Israel Prison Service to end the hunger strike.
